Day 7 – Do you read? What are your favorite books?

I don’t read books. I devour books. Currently I’m on a one-book-a-week spree and I hope it never ends.My goal is to read 52 books this year, it’s looking good so far. Luckily I have a long commute to work, which allows me to read for at least 2 hours a day.

My favorite books? Well, there are way to many, but I can tell you my favorite series: The Dark Tower by Stephen King, The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien, and Harry Potter by JK Rowling.

Right now I’m om my second journey to the Dark Tower . There are so many hidden layers I missed the first time. Also the details I missed the first time, the premonitions I clearly could not see. I wonder if the ending will be as mind blowing as the first time though.

If you want to know about all the other books I read and loved, find me on Goodreads:

Let me know in the comments what your favourite  books are. Always like to update my TBR list!

Day 5 – Five places you want to visit

1. London – And not just visit, I want to live there. Because the very first time I visited, it felt like coming home.

2. Barcelona – My sunny home away from home. (Someone did a test and it is cheaper to commute to London from Barcelona and back each day than it is to actually live in London. Unreal.)

3. Graceland. Elvis had left the building, but I believe his presence can still be felt there.

4. New York. Because New York.

5. Sydney. 42 Wallaby way to be exact.

Day 3 – Your day, in great detail

My day began at 8 o’clock, seems early for a Sunday and it is, but my nephew was sleeping over and I heard him going downstairs (he’s 10) (oh god, what has The Doctor done to me, can’t even type 10 anymore without, uhm, nevermind, I digress). I also had a job this weekend, baking cupcakes for a little girl that turned 4 years old. Pink cupcakes with little crowns on them, I call them Peach, because they remind me of Princess Peach.

So I made breakfast and got ready to finish the cupcakes. My nephew was watching Spongebob and kept informing about the story, I couldn’t watch, I was in the kitchen. And I love Spongebob as much as he does! I had prepared the cupcakes yesterday, and all I had to do was put them together: cover the cake with frosting, put cocos around the base of the topping and add the crown, 45 cupcakes later I was done and it was around 10 o’clock (hello Doctor). My nephew had a football competion he had to go to, so we searched for all his stuff and off he went with his dad at 10.45h. I got the cupcakes ready for delivery, I put the boxes in my car and drove to the adress. The wind had picked up, but the sun was still shining, so lovely fall weather really.

The cupcakes were a great succes with the little girl (and her parents too), we had a cup of coffee and talked. The birthday party was today and the parents were wondering whether to put up a tent in the yard, because it might rain (it is November after all and we’re not in the Bahama’s, weather cannot be trusted in the Netherlands). Well, I left them to it and went home.

SInce it’s November I wrote my daily piece for NaNoWriMo and posted the result. Three days in AND on schedule. Had not expected that, we’ll see how I’m doing at the end of the month. Anyway, the piece went well, about 1800 words (I’m now at 338 with this post) so I was pleased. Back to life then, I had put a load of washing in the machine and it was ready. I went to the attic to hang it up and while I was doing that, I suddenly felt the airpressure drop, like when you’re on a plane? My ears popped and this strange noise  came from outside, like wind, but not like wind. Then I heard shouting from downstairs: “Go look outside! It’s a tornado!”. Wow.

A tornado had passed through our street. Luckily a small one and there was no damage to our house. But our neighbours? Not so much. Tiles flew from theirs roofs, smashed into cars. It was surreal. Slowly other news came in and our whole town had been affected, severe damage to houses and cars, trees and gardens. So far no victims, which is a blessing. Material damage can be repaired. My TL on FB shows more and more pictures of the damage and it was quite a scare for a lot of people. The weather finally let up, there was a hail storm afterwards and heavy rains. But now I can hear people outside again. I’ll go see if I can help.

Thanks for listening, had not expected this to happen on day three of the 30 day challenge!

Day 2 – 10 likes and dislikes

So I’ll start with the dislikes, because I believe in ending things on a positive note.

1. cold coffee
2. backstabbing people
3. lies
4.this is harder than I thought it would be
5. being interrupted while reading
6. People that post TGIF every week and say they hate mondays. It’s not the days, it’s your job you no longer like!
7. Running out of dislikes here
8. Injustice
9. Racism
10. Closed minds

And now for my likes:

1. music
2. cats
3. Dr Who, Sherlock BBC Series
4. Chocolate
5. hot coffee
6. shoes
7. when I write a killer blogpost
8. When my love smiles at me
9. Rainy sundays on the couch with tea, a blanket and a good book
10. Dancing at the concert of one of my fav bands

Day 1 – Some basic things about myself

Where to start? I’m a girl, no, I used to be a girl. I’m a woman now, still can’t get the feel of that, even after al these years of womanhood. Love that word, womanhood. Makes me feel very grand in a way. I’m a woman who loves to read, cook, write, love and be good. Can you love that about yourself? Being good? It makes me feel good when I do good, so I guess it’s okay. Everything else is done with a passion, reading, cooking (eating) and recently I took up running. With a vengance. Because the only reason I run is because I want to eat. I’m not fat, not anymore, but I still have this monster in my head. Screaming at me each time I want to put food in my mouth, especially “bad” food. I’m a healthy eater, so bad food is luckily not very bad food, but still, sometimes it’s too much. And I want to be an calorie-eater instead of a calorie-counter. Ha.
I am also a fun loving person that is crazy about music. Live concerts are almost what I live for and discovering new bands is so cool. Mostly rock music, but anything will do really. It’s the atmosphere and the energy, all those people together making something beautiful. Creating something to love.
Another thing about me is my small obsession for Doctor Who. I say small, but it’s actually bigger on the inside. You know how it works, right? And I’m so so sorry if you don’t. I’m also in the Sherlock fandom and the Cumbercollective, and about to enter the Supernatural fandom, uh-oh, more tears for me, I guess, haha.
Are these the basics? Well, I’m also a cat person who loves dogs. I can’t sing, but I still belt my heart out during karaoke night. I know I’m not one in a million, I’m once in a lifetime. And I love life, real, genuine love. If you see me walking down the street I will most likely have a smile on my face, come rain or shine. I refuse to be kept down, it’s been too long.

Well, these are the basics I guess. But wait, there’s so much more!
